I am a porcelain artist. The porcelain I paint on is created in a factory, already glazed and a beautiful white, blank piece. Items made of porcelain vary in all shapes and sizes. Porcelain is used in dinnerware, vases, figurines, etc. It is different than ceramics. When formed, it is fired at an extreme heat, as hot as 2500 degrees. This makes the porcelain denser, harder, and more durable. Porcelain also has a smoother finish which is desirable for painting on. Porcelain painting has been around for hundreds of years. More recently, ladies would gather to "China Paint". These ladies painted on dinnerware for their family. 2011, I had the opportunity to learn to "China Paint". Since then I have taken the art into the future using waterslide paper, transfers, paint, luster, liquid gold and silver to create my designs. Each of my pieces have been fired in a kiln in stages up to three - four times each as I build the color and create the design. Each fire in my kiln will reach a temperature of 1400 degrees. Never am I able to or want to duplicate a design. My creations are one of a kind and made with love and care.
